Thanks, Forbes!Who said Capitalists were fools?
What is 'UrbanSurvival"?Glad you asked! UrbanSurvival started as a multipurpose web site in 1995-96 as I was completing a Masters in Business Administration, while at the same time being an active participant in the University of Colorado's Center for a Sustainable Future's Long Wave ("Longwaves") Economics discussion group, which focused on the work of Nikolai Kondratiev (sometimes spelled Kondratieff). The way I arranged things, the initial site fulfilled three purposes: It provided a capstone project for my MBA, it gave me a "must do" vehicle to learn about web site construction which would gain me advantages as a sales & marketing expert (which I continue today, focusing on web-direct response/B2C for clients) and it provides an important alternative to the "me-too" corporate mainstream news genre, which takes a very shallow approach to most business and financial news.
This site is not overtly political, except insofar as the Western Capitalistic paradigm doesn't have ready answers to what happens when 7-billion humans reach the limit of the planet's carrying capacity. We look to daily news reports and academic studies for hints.
While the longer term outlook reflected here smacks of such landmark works as Robert Kaplan's book "The Coming Anarchy" and James Kunstler's "The Long Emergency," UrbanSurvival's goal is to try and put day-to-day news items into a workable and actionable perspective such that a long-term investor might react thoughtfully to events - often in advance of their occurrence. How can you do that, you're wondering?
We have friends who have developed a groundbreaking
predictive technology which we simply call "web bot"
technology developed by Cliff of www.halfpasthuman.com.
The technology, which samples large portions of the public internet with an
eye toward "sensing the future" based on subtle changes in
language, seems to have given indications before-the-fact of a large number
of major news events, including but not limited to our reports before the
fact on things like:
What's ahead for the balance of 2007 may hold an economic meltdown in September and a huge "stress building period" from September 19th through mid December. Should be an interesting time. Then a global coastal event and global disease in 2008.
While these are only some of the factors
we're watching, I expect you're agree that this is not a view of the world
through "rose-colored glasses." The Earth is a giant Petri dish and natural
resources are what we human bacteria eat - oil in particular. So please check out
the free daily report or wander around through our library. You'll
find that thanks to some hard work by a few friends in this endeavor, we've
been some distance ahead of mainstream media MSM and hope to continue this
into the future. One thing to be clear on: While I may
know a little something about investments and investing, from a fundaments
perspective, this site does not offer individual investment advice as
is clearly spelled out in our site's disclaimer and privacy policy which I'd
encourage you to read. With those words as a starting point, Welcome Aboard.
